Hello, my name is Gabe Veth and I have decided to do the World Race 9-month program! As some of you know, this has been a long journey to this decision but ultimately, this is where I feel God has called me. Here is a little background about me.
I am from Granite Bay, California, about 20 miles from Sacramento. I am the youngest in a family of 6 and love each of them unconditionally. I graduated high school in 2021 to then complete my Associate’s degree at Sierra College and intern at Bayside church. I grew up in a Christian household going to Bayside almost my whole life where I went to all the camps, small group nights, and events. When I say this, some people may think I have been tight with God since the beginning or have never decided to go my own path in life. This could not be further from the truth. If you told me a year ago that I would be going on a 9-month mission trip around the world, I would think you’re the craziest person I have ever met. Yet, here I am.
If you know me well, you will know I absolutely hate change but, this is exactly how I know this is God calling me to this. It is probably the furthest thing away from comfortability however, my good friend Connor has told me “The worst part about change is the anticipation of it.”
I have made a lot of important decisions in life, but this time has been different. A couple months ago, I was torn on what to do this coming August. Therefore, I had to look at this from a different perspective because you’ll find that a lot of times God does not want to change the situation you are in, he wants to shift your perspective on it. On one hand, I stay in the Granite Bay bubble I have grown up in my whole life, do another year of internship at the same church serving alongside all my best friends. On the other hand, I leave to do ministry in 4 different countries for 9 months with all new people I do not know, sleep God knows where, eat God knows what, leave my family and friends but, experience my relationship with God on a completely new level serving people around the world who truly need hope. Now you can understand why this decision has been such a journey.
At the end of the day, I am stoked to be able to have the opportunity to serve alongside some of the best people in the country who have made the same decision as I have. In each of the countries, I will be doing different ministries and be able to update you guys as I go on this life-changing journey. Thank you so much for your prayers and donations, I love you all.
“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” – C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[a] Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:9-18
